Is It Over?

Tiger Woods is one of the most clutch athletes ever. If he is playing his best golf, he is head and shoulders above everyone else on the PGA tour. Right now, he is playing his best golf and has a 3 shot lead heading into the final round of the PGA championship. Right now, the question is, "is it already over?"

Whenever Tiger has gone into the final round of a tournament with the lead, he has never given it up. With a 3 shot lead on Stephan Ames, is there anyone that can catch him. Well if someone is gojng to catch him,it's going to be Ames. If you have ever seen him play or seen him in an interview, you know that he doesn't put much pressure on himself. He just goes out there and does his thing. I saw him on a hole this tournament where he missed a long par putt but an inch, and just laughed. But gaining 3 shots on Tiger during the final round is very difficult.

Neither of the golfers really made any move yesterday, as both of them shot a 1-under 69. "I accomplished my goal today," said Woods, who wore a blue towel over his shoulders in the chilly, air-conditioned media pavilion. "My goal was to shoot under par and increase my lead."

Many reporters have been questioning Ames om his comments during the 2006 WGC-Accenture Match Play. Ames, (who keeps saying he's miss-quoted) said anything could happen with the way Woods was spraying the ball, but the comments blew up in his face when Woods won 9&8. The comments were similar to Rory Sabbatini's when he said Tiger was playing as poorly as ever before going into the final round of a tournament with Tiger. Woods promptly won the tournament.

Tiger also has extra motivation for this major, as it is the last one before the end of the PGA tour regular season. So with all of these factors, I believe that the PGA championship is over, unless Tiger has some uncharacteristic blow up. And if something like that does happen, Stephan Ames will probably be the one to benefit from it.

Update! - Tiger Woods had won the PGA Championship with a 2-shot win over Woody Austin. It is Tigers' 13th major and the 1st this season.

Final-Round Thrill Ride At Carnoustie

Sergio Garcia, a person who is notorious in giving up leads on Sunday had a chance to win one of the PGA's biggest tournaments yesterday.

Garcia started the day 3 strokes up on the 2nd place player in the British Open yesterday. He started his round well staying par threw the 1st 6, but then got 2 straight bogeys to go down to 7-. Meanwhile, Padraig Harrington was having a great round getting birdie after birdie and getting closer to the lead. Garcia then got 2 straight birdies on the 13th and 14th to get a big lead. He would then bogey the next hole though. Harrington kept up the pace getting a eagle on 14 and having the lead going into the final hole.

But on the final hole, he hit it into the water twice to double-bogey! This meant that Garcia needed a par to win the Championship. After hitting his fairway shot in the sand, he hit it onto the green to give himself a 12-foot putt for the win. But it just went left, so Garcia and Harrington went to a 4-hole playoff.

Skip to the final hole, Garcia needed a long birdie put for a tie after Harrington got the lead on then 1st hole. Garcia again burned the edge of the hole leaving the door wide open for Harrington to win the Open with a 3-foot putt. He made it becoming the 1st Irishman more than 50 years to win the Open.

After the round, all of the talk was about Sergio blowing it yet again. "To tell you the truth, I don't feel like I did anything wrong," said Garcia, who closed with a 73 and was 1 over in the playoff. "I really didn't miss a shot in the playoff. I hit unbelievable putts. They just didn't go in."

He had a change of heart in the next interview. "I should write a book on how not to miss a shot and not win a playoff."

Harrington also talked about this win and what it meant for him. "I think if I had lost, it would have been hard to take it," Harrington said. "But because I had a chance, I didn't let myself get down about taking a 6. I convinced myself if there was a playoff, I would do the best in it."

He certainly did do the best he could.

Cabrera Wins U.S Open

Angel Cabrera started well back of Tiger Woods at the U.S Open yesterday, and wasn't even in the same group as him. But even with the pressure of not knowing what Tiger was doing in the course behind him, he made all the right shots at all the right times.

After an early triple-bogey by leader Aaron Baddeley, it was anyones tournament. Angel Cabrera, who was playing 4 holes ahead of that group was playing stellar holding on an under par round for all of the round. By the end of his 18 holes, he had the lead, but Jim Furyk and Tiger were looking to catch him. A late bogey put Furyk out of contention, so it was up to Tiger to catch up. He had a putt on the final hole to force a playoff, but it just went right. This meant that Angel Cabrera won the US. Open!

Cabrera is the 1st Argentinean to win a major in 40 years. 'It is very difficult to describe this moment,'' Cabrera said. ''Probably tomorrow, when I wake up with this trophy beside me, I will realize I won the U.S. Open.''

Canadian Stephan Ames was one of many to be beaten by Oakmont. His round of 76 was capped off by a double-bogey on 9. Tiger was also disappointed by his 2nd place finish. ''Finishing second is never fun,'' Woods said after closing with a 72. ''You play so hard, and it's just disappointing.''

Aprils Top 5 Stroies

5. The Masters - The 2007 Masters was one of the toughest ever with the winner over par. That winner was Zach Johnson. The self-proclaimed "normal guy" was the best player on the course and even beat Tiger.

4. Jays Season Opener - The Toronto Blue Jays opened their season with high hopes. So far they are 2nd in their division, but have had lots of injuries. If they get healthy, they will be dangerous.

3. Moss Trade - The New England Patriots traded for one of the best WR in the game pf football in Randy Moss. He will be a great addition to a WR core that has been depleted because of trades.

2. NBA Playoffs - The Toronto Raptors had one of their best seasons ever and will try to best the New Jersey Nets in the 1st round of the playoffs.

1. NHL Playoffs - The NHL playoffs started and are great. Every game has been entertaining and their have been many surprises. It will be interesting to see who will take it all.

Great In Green

Zach Johnson. Do you know the name. You probably don't. He is a young guy and is a self-proclaimed , "normal person." Just a normal guy, who just got his name in the history books.

Yesterday Johnson was in the one of final groupings knowing that Tiger Woods was in the hunt for the Green Jacket. But even with the pressure Johnson won the jacket and the Masters.

This was the 1st time in Masters history that the winner was over-par. "I'm Zach Johnson and I'm from Cedar Rapids, Iowa," said the guy wearing the green jacket after winning the Masters on Sunday night. "I'm very normal. I'm as normal as they come."

"I'm Zach Johnson and I'm from Cedar Rapids, Iowa," said the guy wearing the green jacket after winning the Masters on Sunday night. "I'm very normal. I'm as normal as they come."

Johnson became the first player ever to win a major tournament led by Woods in the final round by overcoming a late charge from the world's No. 1 player.

"They say a giant has to fall at some point and maybe that's the case," said Johnson. "You know, it's still very surreal in that respect.

"This golf course was playing very difficult," said Woods, who finished second in a major for just the third time in his career. "You just had to keep plodding along and give yourself as many chance as you possibly could at birdies. They were very hard to come by."
