The 7-time Cy Young winner made his dramatic announcement today during the Yankees - Mariners game. In the 7th inning stretch, Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard told fans to turn their attention to the box, where Clemens was standing with a microphone. "Well, they came and got me out of Texas and I can tell you it's a privilege to be back," Clemens said. "I'll be talking to y'all soon."
This is the 2nd time Clemens has come out of retirement. The last time was signing with the Houston Astros in 2004 after retiring in 2003.
Clemens will be a much needed addition to an ailing Yankees pitching staff who just now is getting back Chien Ming Wang from injury.
Clemens is expected to sign a minor-league contract to get in shape.
